Sports massage offers numerous benefits for athletes and individuals engaged in physical activities or those struggling with posture related muscle pain, these include:
Sports massage techniques stimulate blood flow, enhancing circulation throughout the body. This can help deliver oxygen and nutrients to muscles, aiding in their repair and recovery after intense physical activity or sustained postures.
Massage can alleviate muscle tension and soreness by releasing knots and trigger points. This can improve pain, flexibility, range of motion, and decrease the risk of injury.
Regular sports massage can help identify areas of muscle tightness or imbalance, which, if left unaddressed, could lead to injuries or long standing pain conditions. By addressing these issues early, the risk of injury during sports or workouts can be minimised.
Sports massage can accelerate the recovery process by flushing out metabolic waste products like lactic acid that accumulate in muscles after exercise. This aids in reducing muscle fatigue and soreness, allowing athletes to recover more quickly between training sessions or competitions.
Sports massage techniques can induce relaxation and reduce stress by promoting the release of endorphins—the body’s natural painkillers. This can positively impact your mental state and help in managing stress associated with work, training and competition.
For athletes recovering from injuries, sports massage can be an integral part of the rehabilitation process. It can aid in aligning new scar tissue, improving flexibility, and restoring normal function to injured muscles.

Sports Massage FAQs
Sports massage is a specialised form of massage therapy primarily focused on athletes and individuals involved in sports or intense physical activities. It involves various techniques designed to enhance athletic performance, aid in recovery, prevent injuries, and promote overall well-being. It is generally optimal to have Sports massages monthly for maintenance however if your activity level is quite high you may benefit from more regular sessions. This can be discussed with your therapist. If you have an injury we would recommend a physiotherapy consultation rather than a sports massage to ensure we fix the problem fully.
A sports massage is a type of massage therapy that is specifically designed to help athletes and active individuals improve their performance and recover from injuries.
The frequency of sports massage will depend on your individual needs and activity level. However, a good rule of thumb is to get a sports massage once every two to four weeks.
You may feel some soreness or stiffness after your sports massage appointment, but this should go away within a few days. You should also feel more relaxed and have improved flexibility and range of motion.
